Angola is prepared to share with Zimbabwe its experience in the mining sector, gleaned from its success in identifying mineral resources under the National Geology Plan (Planageo), says Geology and Mining Minister Francisco Queiroz.

"Angola is in a position to share its experience with Zimbabwe," the minister stated at a meeting here Thursday with his visiting Zimbabwean counterpart, Walter Chidhakwa.

The sharing of experience in mining between Angola and Zimbabwe is in progress and yielding results, especially on the Government strategy for the exploitation of natural resources with direct benefits to the economy, an area which has been described as posing problems for African countries, said Queiroz.

He added that the meeting between the two delegations agreed that Zimbabwe would send technical staff to Angola to learn from the experience gained under its Planagio plan and acquire knowledge which might be useful in Zimbabwe.

He said Angola had been making investments in other countries in the mining sector, including Guinea Bissau, Central African Republic (CAR) and Guinea-Conakry, under an initiative to invest in neighbouring countries.

Chidhakwa said the meeting discussed issues related to the agreement signed between the two countries on diamond production and exploration and mapping and training of experts in the area of diamond assessment.
