A hooker has been jailed to an effective four months by a magistrate after she was convicted of stealing from a client who had hired her for an overnight service.

Juliet Mudanda, 21, appeared before magistrate Sekai Chiundura facing theft charges after she stole $95 and a mobile phone.

She pleaded guilty on her own plea.

However, Mudanda will now serve one month behind bars after Chiundura set aside two months on condition that she does not commit a similar offence in five years while one month was put aside on condition that she pays $80 to Moses Chewiro.

Prosecutor Donald Mudadirwa told the court that Mudanda, who used psedo name Melody Makoni in prostitution activities, on July 16, was hired by Chewiro for a blissful night at his house.

The following day, Chewiro woke up and left Mudanda in the house.

Mudanda took advantage of Chewiro’s absence and stole a Nokia C1 and cash and vanished.

She was later seen by Chewiro at Sakubva bus terminus the following day and the matter was reported to police leading to her arrest.

Nothing was recovered.

Asked why she committed the offence, Mudanda said: “Your Worship I stole to raise money for bus fare to go back to my rural areas”.

But magistrate Chiundura said the theft was planned because Mudanda was not a first offender in cases of that nurture.

She had previously appeared before the same court facing similar charges after she stole money from Joseph Rupiya, 29, using same tactics and was cautioned.

“You must go and serve a jail because this is a planned mission,” said Chiundura.
