Afro-fusion crooner Alexio Kawaranbsp has postponed the release of his sixth album to early next year. In an interview on the sidelines of his performance at the Book Cafeacute over the weekend, Alexio said the album release was hampered by poor logistics.

“We have put the final touches on the upcoming album and we are optimistic that the album will definitely make it locally and internationally.

“The reason we postponed the release date is because we are working with a corporate partner whom we cannot reveal now for professional reasons.

“Once we conclude, then the album will be released by early March,” he said.

Alexio and his group Shades of Black put up a sterling performance, attracting fans from diverse backgrounds, including the Chinese, who could be seen dancing.

He took revellers down memory lane when he performed some of his urban grooves hits such as “Chibvukubvuku”, “Musikana akanaka” and “Shamwari”, a collaboration he did with Ngoni Kambarami, “Kumusha kure” and “Shaina” among others.

He also sampled new songs from the upcoming album, including “Chakaipa” a collaboration with Roki and “Zvazvinhu” which has of late become a favourite of many.

Another song called “Nehana” is a potential hit.
