BLACK Mambas officials barred Nicholas Alifandika from moving to How Mine at the beginning of the year arguing that the forward was needed to take their team back into the Premiership. After this weekend’s round of the World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league fixtures, those who made that big decision need to get a pat on the back.

Alifandika struck a hat-trick as Mambas ran riot on Saturday to demolish Seven Flames 6-0 at Morris Depot.

The former Dynamos forward struck in the 33rd minute, 49th minute and 87th minute while Kasimero Chimbadzwa scored a brace with his goals coming in the 22nd minute and 59th minute.

Honey Chimutimunzeve weighed in with a goal in the 22nd minute.

Mambas, who were demoted from the Premiership last year as they found the going tough, seem determined to quickly return to the top-flight league.

Coach John “Toto” Ncube hailed his charges who remained in the top four.

“I can say the boys played well throughout the game. As you know our team was last year playing in the Premier league and everyone wants to beat us, so it’s a motivation for the players,” said Ncube.

“Our next game is against Twalumba, as usual I encourage my players to collect maximum points whether at home or away.”

In other matches featuring the top teams second-placed, Flame Lilly, continued with their fine run when they dismissed Blue Swallows 1-0.

Swallows, who returned to the World Navi Northern Region Division One league this season, are currently sitting in 12th place with a single win, three draws and two loses.
