A YOUNG boy was on Tuesday found hanging from a tree near Mutare with some body parts missing in a suspected case of ritual murder.

Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Enock Chishiri confirmed the incident, saying the boy’s mouth and testicles were missing.

The incident took place at Makunike village under Chief Zimunya.

According to police, the deceased Langton Musere, 13, left home for school on Tuesday, March 3, and never returned home.

In the evening, Musere’s stepfather Robin Mupureni, 52, together with his wife Tsverukai Ganyaupfu, 48, tried to locate the boy in the surrounding area but their efforts were futile.

The following day they went to Musere school but were told that their son had not reported for lessons.

This prompted the frantic parents to file a missing persons report with the police.

The boy’s body was later found by Knowledge Charovedzera, 13, of Gwarada village near Murare River bank hanging on a tree.

Charovedzera rushed and informed other villages who went to the scene and called the police.

Inspector Chishiri said the cops discovered that Musere’s left hip, penis, testicles and mouth were missing.

“We urge school children not to move alone in secluded places but in groups to avoid such incidents,” Chishiri said, adding police were working round the clock to bring the culprits to book.
