The tennis star will be making a comeback to the tournament breaming with confidence after winning her first title in the US recently and also helping her College tennis team to their fourth straight title at the (USA) Regional tennis championships.

Eight colleges took part in the tournament held at the Paseo Racquet Club in Glendale, in Phoenix, Arizona, with Chawafambira’s college emerging victorious after winning all six singles titles and all three doubles titles.

Mantas Tennis Academy administrator Vincent Nyatoti confirmed the development but could not reveal the total sponsorship package for this year’s event.

“We are going to host the NMB Manicaland Senior Open Tennis tournament from 23-26 of this month. We are expecting a tough competition just like any other year. The tournament is open to all players in the World,” he said.

“Pauline Chawafambira has already confirmed participation in this tournament as she seeks to defend the title she won last year. She is very much interested in participating in local tournaments despite playing in the US,” he added.

“Takanyi Garanganga, who participated in the tournament last year, is also expected but this time around he will be participating in the Futures tournament. Otherwise we are expecting players like Liberty Nzula, Malcom Mutungamiri, Terrence Mazungaire, amongst others,” added Nyatoti.
