HILTON Mudariki’s availability in the country might earn him a place in the Zimbabwe Cheetahs team for the Cell C Nelson Mandela Bay IRB World Sevens Series set for December 13 in Port Elizabeth.

Zimbabwe Sevens chairman Donald “Brasco” Mangenje said some players suffered injuries during the Confederation of the African Rugby Sevens tournament at Prince Edward.

Fly-half Lenience Tambwera suffered an ankle injury, while Wesley Mbanje was injured in the match against Uganda.

“We still have to check on the availability of our players because some were injured at the Confederation of African Rugby tournament.

“We are going to build a team which will represent the country in Hong Kong and so taking part in the series is the best thing for us.

“We are going to call the players on Saturday and by Sunday we will have the final squad,” said Mangenje.

Cheetahs assistant coach, Daniel Hondo expects a tough assignment in South Africa.

“But we are going there with a positive mind and, hopefully, we will win,” said Hondo.

“We want to give the opportunity to the new players of Sevens to get the experience and exposure which is going to be helpful for the Hong Kong assignment.

“It is not going to be easy but we are going to help the team to play their best rugby.”
