Preparations for the much anticipated “Chibuku Road to Fame” finals have begun with organisers, Delta Beverages and the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, announcing the dates of provincial preliminaries of the talent search show.

Delta Beverages marketing manager Patricia Murambinda said the musical festival will start with Masvingo then later come to Harare on June 7.

“The first edition of the Chibuku Road to Fame will kick off in Masvingo on June and from there it will proceed across all 10 provinces, culminating in the traditionally colorful finals in Harare at Glamis Stadium on September 27,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Chibuku Neshamwari showcase will be kicking off much earlier with the first provincial competition taking place on May 31 in Mashonaland West.

Murambinda said Delta Beverages will continue to bring development into the society.

“The Chibuku Road to Fame is one of the three largest musical festivals in the country, and is the single largest talent identification programme in Zimbabwe in terms of scale and depth. “Our long standing partnership with the National Arts Council has shown the power of public- private partnerships in bringing about community development” she said.

Founded in 1963 and 2001 respectively, the Chibuku Neshamwari and the Chibuku Road to Fame concepts have grown to critical acclaim, and now boast some of the most valuable entertainment franchises on the local arts front.

The Chibuku brand is also available in Botswana, Malawi with Zambia expected to launch the programme in the next 24 months.

Winner of the Chibuku Road to Fame last year was Bindura based outfit, The Way Band.

The edition was graced by a surprise appearance by the Malawi Chibuku Road to Fame edition winners.
