FORMER CAPS United coach Gishon “Gizha” Ntini could bounce back at the Harare giants, taking over from Taurai Mangwiro.

Ntini was coach of Chiredzi FC in the last campaign but failed to save the team from relegation.

The departure of Mangwiro appears to have opened a window of opportunity for a shock return by Ntini to the Harare giants.

Mangwiro quit Caps United Friday last week for Harare City and took with him his entire backroom staff which includes Mike Madzivanyika and goalkeepers coach Richard Tswatswa.

An informed source said Ntini was one of the candidates being considered for the United job.

“He is one of the candidates likely to replace Mangwiro,” said the insider.

“I understand there has already been communication between the two parties. He has been there at Caps United and knows the system very well and is aware of the pressure that comes with coaching a club like Caps United.

“The other thing is that Caps United are struggling financially and wouldn’t manage to go for big names because they won’t be able to pay them.”

Ntini, whose contract with the Chiredzi based side comes to an end on December 31, started off as a junior coach at Caps before serving as assistant coach to Charles Mhlauri in the 2004-2005 seasons.

He was elevated to head the technical department in 2006, but failed to last the distance.

Ntini has also coached in Botswana, taking charge of former Be-Mobile side Flamingo Santos a few years back.
