A 23 year old Chirumanzu man was on Friday arraigned before the courts on allegations of killing his elder brother after an argument over eggs.

Levison Mutengwa who resides in Gozho village under Chief Hama, Chirumanzu hit brother, Lucas Mutengwa, with a stone leading to his death.

Levison appeared before Gweru magistrate, Judith Taruvinga facing murder charges and was remanded to the 24th June.

The court heard that on the 29th of April 2013 and at 10 PM, Lucas started shouting at Levison’s wife, Filda Chinondo, accusing her of stealing his three eggs.

The woman then entered the hut where her husband was sleeping crying, awakening the latter in the process.

Lucas followed and continued accusing his brother’s wife for being a thief and that she had stolen his eggs.

Levison then picked a piece of firewood from the fireplace and allegedly struck the shouting Lucas once on the forehead.

Lucas then chased Levison outside the hut but the latter picked a stone and allegedly hit the deceased once on the chest.

Lucas fell to the ground and became unconscious. He was rushed to St Theresa Hospital where he died on admission.
