FLAMBOUYANT businessman and socialite Genius Kadungure, arrested Thursday over a R2 million fraud, will spend the Africa Day holiday in custody after a local court set his bail hearing for Tuesday.

Kadungure, famed for his hosting of a lavish US$17 000 all white birthday party in 2010, is alleged to have defrauded two Harare businessmen and a Zanu PF activist of the amount.

He was arrested for the offence on Thursday and appeared Saturday for his first court hearing on the matter.

Magistrate Milton Serima remanded to Tuesday, the businessman who runs a gas company with branches in Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe.

The state, represented by Michael Reza, heard that the socialite defrauded two businessmen and a Zanu PF activist, through misrepresenting himself as an agent for a local diamond company.

He also told his victims he had tenders to award to them.

Kadungure is famed for hosting a lavish US$17 000 all white birthday party in Greystone Park-Harare in 2010 which lasted three days.

The first day was an all-white affair, second day being a family-only event while the third “party” was for swimming.

He was recently listed as one of the upcoming millionaires in Zimbabwe along with property magnate and Zanu PF politician, Philip Chiyangwa and bragging Wicknel Chivayo among others.

In 2011, he has been accused of neglecting his son sired with a village woman in Domboshava, claims he dismissed.

To celebrate his 28th birthday in 2012, the socialite flew 20 guests to Botswana in a party themed black and white.

The party is said to have gobbled US$32 000 in the plush suburb of Phakalane Gold Estate in Gaborone.

Recently, the self-proclaimed “king of bling” discovered he had been taking care of another man’s child for 11 years.

The matter came to light when the mother of the kid Doreen Mutukwa had decided to demand an upward review of the maintenance fees to $15,000.

This forced Kadungure to demand a paternity test which revealed he was not the father of the child he had been looking after for over a decade.

Last year, he held a consecutive three-day long party at his rural home in Domboshava to celebrate his new mansion he had just built in the area.
