A new trendy and upmarket club, 1+1 Happy, opened over the weekend to add fire to the already glowing Harare night life. The hangout tucked inside the pristine Longcheng Plaza, arguably one of the busiest shopping malls, officially opened its doors with music by the rising afro-pop singer Wanai Ndudzo who serenaded music lovers with a mixed bag of cover versions and her own compositions.

Throughout her performance, Wanai captured the attention of the crowd that was also treated to some Chinese culinary delights, which is the signature dishes at the hangout.

From the music of Brenda Fassie, Lira, Yvonne Chaka Chaka to her own hits such as “Ndayarutsa”, “Mari” and “Chirere” taken off her sizzling album “Book of Love” Wanai appealed the mature crowd with ease.

Backed by a live band, Wanai’s performance was an experience worth cherishing since the engineers at the club fine tuned the state-of-the-art lighting and sound to perfection.

By and large, the club is well equipped with the latest technology including the smoke and bubble machines, spotlights and surround system.

On the walls, there are big screen television sets so that diners do not a miss a thing on the small screens.

Revellers have to choose either the ground floor where they can sit and enjoy drinks or go upstairs where there are dining tables.

There, they get to sit with whoever they want uninterrupted more or less like a VIP area but which allows them to have the same vibe as those on the ground floor.

The venue can be used for both live performances and just music from the DJ box.

Apparently, the club has enlisted the services of renowned club DJ Webster “Webber” Brandy, who makes sure the playlists suit the mature clientele.

DJ Webber is no newcomer as he was mentored by the Huggiez Entertainment, a group of DJs who specialise in old skool music.
