Home » Arts & Culture » Cool Reloaded – Time to Catch Up This Term

The honeymoon is over!!! Yes it is just two days before schools open. I hope you have been planning all along about second term. The next term is much of the serious work because you will be preparing for the final exams.

To those who are not writing final exams this year, use the second term to catch up what you missed in the first term.

Well April holiday was fun packed, guess so. Think of HIFA and Dairibord rugby festival. For a start HIFA was all about fashion swag style, showcasing the techno vibe, posing and posting pictures on Instagram. Now the curtain comes down for the rugby finale, who will rule the roost today. Bravo to the Dairibord rugby festival organisers this year for an awesome logistics including strict rules. Are we gonna read stories of mischievous behaviour this year… ummm let’s wait and see.

So how is the swag going. Very sorry for last week’s edition with no urban reloaded. We received a lot of mails and text from some of you guys but hey we not dead. We are alive and sorry again.

Here is our nay and yeah for this weekend.

Back to books in style

I know you still have the hangover from the holiday activities as it’s almost back to business, I mean back to school. But you can be happy while revising or reading. Check on the latest coolest member of the swag stationery family. There is a new chair in town with books dubbed, ‘Open Book Lounge Chair which makes for a great standalone reading station, complete with a load of shelves for books, a comfy seat, and a place to set down your cup of coffee. But what if you’ve exhausted all the shelf space and need something with even more room for your reading materials? This ‘Bibliochaise’ looks like the perfect replacement. It can hold up to 300 books, it’s actually more bookshelf than lounger, although it does come with a comfy-looking seat where you can park yourself while digging into that novel you bought two years ago but never quite yet got to read. Alas, those shelves, by the way, look like they can work great for storing a whole load of stuff beyond books, including remotes, tablets, chocolate bars, dirty socks, and, yeah, this thing can get gross really fast. Hurry tell your dad to get one or design it for you. Please make sure you read those books.

Lunecase new tech-wizard

Forget about the just ordinary pouch as it has been replaced by the Lunecase which is the magical iPhone Case that displays alerts without using any additional power. Surprised, don’t be. The Lunecase is just like any of the thousand or so iPhone cases in the market, wrapping over your phone’s naked frame and serving as a second skin. Except it also comes with a built-in notification system that lights up every time you receive a call or text without hooking up to any power source. Made by Concepter, the case doesn’t have an onboard battery to power its LEDs, nor does it hook up to your iPhone to piggyback off its power.

Instead, it harnesses the small amounts of electromagnetic energy the iPhone emits and uses that to power the onboard LEDs, essentially putting erstwhile wasted energy to use. Described as the “first intelligent iPhone cover,” the Lunecase can recognise every instance a call or text is received even without hooking up to any part of the iPhone, then lights up the corresponding alert (a text bubble graphic for an SMS, a phone icon for a call). I am not sure how it accomplishes that, but we would never rule out some form of magical sorcery fuelled by magic from the remains of a giant superhuman.

Seriously, it just snaps onto the phone like any regular case no plugs, no wires, and no wireless Bluetooth connection whatsoever, yet it knows when someone is calling and texting. Prize ranges from US$39.

Decoded

Yes Amazing Spiderman 2 is out, good quality too. I am not a fan of Spiderman though but the director knows what he was doing when he did the movie. Waiting for its release at our cinemas.
