A MASVINGO police woman has been ordered to pay $5,000 in damages to the wife of a workmate with whom she also had a child.

Sharon Nyamayedenga, who is based at Masvingo Central Police Station, must pay $1,500 for inflicting pain on Chivaraidzo Timburwa and causing her social discomfort.

Masvingo Civil Court also ruled that the remaining $ 3,500 was for damages that Chivaraidzo suffered as her husband deprived her of conjugal rights over the course of the affair.

Magistrate Dorothy Mwanyisa said Nyamayedenga was fully aware that her lover, Tamson Chipembere – a fellow cop – was a married man.

The court heard that Nyamayedenga was a guest at the couple’s wedding in April 2011 and even gave them a present.

The cheating hubby unsuccessfully tried to rally to the defence of his lover by saying he was the one who had bothered Nyamayedenga with propositions following his deployment at Masvingo central police station.

He told the court that he was turned down on a number of occasions with Nyamayedenga making clear she would not date a married man.

However, one of the text messages the pair exchanged was seen by his wife after which he decided to lie in order to get into his workmate’s pants.

“Ever since that day, my wife kept nagging me accusing me of unfaithfulness,” Chipembere told the court.

“My wife had two miscarriages and cannot bear me any kids. This forced me to lie to Nyamayedenga that I am processing a divorce with my wife after which she accepted my proposals.”

The affair resulted in Chipembere and Nyamayedenga having a child on July 21, 2013.

The cop’s wife said she discovered the affair when she found the child’s birth certificate at her home. The document showed that her husband had sired a child outside marriage with a workmate.
