Zanu-PF national chairman Cde Simon Khaya Moyo has called on the party’s representatives in the House of Assembly to submit quarterly performance reports to their provincial chairpersons who will forward them to the headquarters by Saturday.

Cde Khaya Moyo made the call at a press conference yesterday.

“The performance reports will be submitted at the end of May, August and November this year to ensure the parliamentarians are fully implementing strategies highlighted in the country’s economic blueprint, Zim-Asset, in their respective constituencies,” he said.

“My office at party headquarters has created a unit headed by a director to receive such reports from our 10 provincial chairpersons as conveyed in an earlier communication to the provinces. This challenge calls on every MP to measure to expectation and remain accountable to his or her constituency all the time.

“Guidelines for such accountability are with every MP and they include initiation of projects and other programmes in a given constituency.” Cde Khaya Moyo urged the legislators to work in tandem with the traditional leadership in their respective constituencies on various programmes outlined in Zim-Asset. “Programmes must be derived from the people so that they feel ownership of the projects,” he said. “I do hope that we shall prove to the entire nation that indeed Zanu-PF is a revolutionary and people’s party.”

Cde Khaya Moyo said the party was fully aware that legislators were facing obstacles in the area of transport, fuel and their sitting allowances.

He urged Zanu-PF legislators to work hard for the party to recover seats lost in the previous election.
