TALENT Mwale was the hero for Chapungu as they stunned defending champions Dynamos 1-0 at Ascot Stadium in Gweru in a Castle Lager Premiership on Thursday.

Mwale struck in the 28th minute and the hosts held on despite losing two men at the end of the match for time wasting to cause the biggest upset of Match Day Five.

This was Dynamos’ second loss of the season after they were beaten 1-0 by ZPC Kariba at home in week 2.

And for Chapungu, after six attempts where they lost all games, they managed not only to beat Dynamos, but to score their first goal against the Harare giants.

Dynamos benched Ronald Chitiyo and Patrick Khumbula and the decision seemed to back fire as Oscar Machapa was off colour.

Chitiyo came on later in the second half and changed the complexion of the match, but the equaliser would just not come.

Even the coming in of Russel Madamombe did not help matters either, piling the pressure on coach Callisto Pasuwa, who has hawks, including his vice chairman and former coach David Mandigora, circling around his job.

Chapungu, however ended the match with nine men after Courage Murize was red carded for offensive language by referee Thembinkosi Sibanda while Rodwell Mhlanga was also shown another red card for rough play on Stephen Alimenda.

With the loss, Dynamos relinquished top spot to Hwange, who beat Black Rhinos 1-0 at the Colliery Stadium via an Eric Chipeta penalty in the 44th minute after star midfielder Rodwell Chinyengetere was hacked down in the box.

Rhinos also finished with 10 men after striker Beaven Chikaka was shown a second yellow card for dissent.

Hwange now have now opened a two point gap at the top after Highlanders conceded a last minute equaliser against Chicken Inn to draw 1-1 at Barbourfields.

Ozias Zibande had given Bosso the lead after 28 minutes but when goalkeeper Munyaradzi Diya raced off the line to clear the ball in injury time, he made a mess and George Majika pounced for the equaliser.

Dynamos, Highlanders, Shabanie Mine and ZPC Kariba complete the top five all with nine points.
