REIGNING premeirship champions Dynamos will announce their new coach by Thursday, club secretary Webster Chikengezha said Monday evening.

“The executive will meet tonight and after going through the applications we will then conduct interviews before naming the coach on Thursday,” said Chikengezha.

The Dynamos job had attracted interest from within and outside the country with a number of foreign coaches having reportedly submitted their applications in the hope of landing one of Zimbabwe’s hottest seats.

Dynamos ran an aert in newspapers calling for applications to replace the outgoing Pasuwa whose contract runs out on December 31.

Although the Dynamos leadership was not willing to disclose the man they believe could fit into the big shoes left by Pasuwa, former Highlanders coach Kelvin Kaindu is one of the top coaches understood to have submitted his application for the post.

ZPC Kariba coach Saul Chaminuka whose team finished second to eventual winners Dynamos is also reported to have applied for the job.

Former Dynamos coach David “Yogi” Mandigora and Tonderai Ndiraya are also understood to have applied for the job.

According to the aert, Dynamos are targeting a coach with at least a Caf A coaching licence and the ability to work under pressure, as well as three years’ experience.

Although most Zimbabwean coaches have attained the Caf A coaching licence, Kaindu — a Zambian national — is one of the few coaches who holds a Uefa B coaching badge.

Methembe Ndlovu, who owns Bantu Rovers, is one of the Zimbabwean coaches with a Uefa B coaching badge, but is highly unlikely to apply for the job because of commitment with his club.

However, the new coach is likely to find it difficult to fill the big shoes left by Pasuwa following a record of four successive championship.

Pasuwa, won the league title with Dynamos for a record fourth straight season but has said he will not be renewing his contract with the champions which comes to an end on December 31.
