A FORMER Steward Bank manager who allegedly defrauded the financial institution of $180 000 by creating fake credit accounts he used to buy air tickets was back in court yesterday facing fresh charges.

Albert Chinamano (35) of Borrowdale, Harare, allegedly committed fraud involving $2 000 while on bail, using the same modus operandi.

He appeared before magistrate Mr Tendai Mahwe on Saturday.

After hearing submissions from both counsels, Mr Mahwe yesterday granted Chinamano $100 bail.

The State led by Mrs Venencia Mutake had opposed bail.

She said police were yet to recover over 60 cards used by Chinamano in committing the offences.

Chinamano’s lawyer Mr Admire Rubaya of Rubaya and Chatambudza Legal Practitioners argued that his client was a proper candidate for bail as he was innocent until proven guilty.

Mr Mahwe granted Chinamano bail.
