Former Studio 263 actress Tatenda Mavetera, popularly known as Tendai Jari from the soap, is enjoying her profession as a farmer. The actress ventured into farming about three years ago and says she is enjoying her love for crops and livestock.

“I am a armer in Goromonzi and I specialise in piggery and maize farming. This is my third year in farming but on a full time basis, I’m into logistics and clearing,” she said.

She said she has not abandoned film as she has been working from behind the scenes of late.

Some of the projects she has featured in include drama series “Manje So”, “The Zimbabwe I know” and Munya Chidzonga’s “Lobola” among others.

“I have not abandoned television as I have upcoming productions that I’m working on with a certain television station. I was also involved the shooting of a film called ‘Bitter Pill’ that is being aired on Africa magic,” she said.

On her farming project, Mavetera said the inspiration came from her upbringing with her family in Gutu.

She said agriculture and business have made her grow and look broadly to life’s offers.

“I have matured and I understand life better thus making more informed decisions. Agriculture has taught me to work hard and believe in myself because it has results that you can evaluate for you and improve,” she said.

Her innovativeness and hard work seem to be working for her as she has landed her a place on the board of Zimbabwe Youth Council.

She is also the vice president of Federation of Young Farmers Club Zimbabwe, the student union president for Women’s University in Africa and the Affirmative Action Group chairperson for Chikomba district.

“I’m just keeping low and just being humble because I believe that if you humble yourself God will lift you up. Nothing much has changed about me besides my weight.

When I was on Studio, I was a size 42 but I have since dropped sizes to a 38. I am loving my new look and am now watching my weight,” she said.
