The curtain came down on the fifth edition of the Zimbabwe Fashion Week on Saturday at Harare City Library and the country’s top runway show lived up to its billing. Since the event came alive a week ago, the capital has been a hype of activity with enthusiasts thronging the venue to get a glimpse of the designs that were being showcased. Top international celebrity Yuri Kolokolnikov was on the guest list as promised and the “Game of Thrones” star graced the event throughout the week.

The show’s founder and executive producer, Priscilla Chigariro, described the fashion fete as yet another success in spite of the challenges that marred the planning process.

“We are happy that we managed to pull it off.

“Everything went as planned and a number of changes had to be made in the build-up to the event.

“One of these include the setting up of the tent, making the event an outdoor event as the library did not have adequate space.

“The show came up beautifully and the central location enabled different people to easily access it,” she said.

About 40 designers showcased their work on the runway and of these, seven were international brands.

Among them was United States-based super model Yolanda Yona, better known as Nana Simz, who added the international flair on the runway.

Also among the “A” list guests was 3013 ZFW emerging designer Znzorzi Adby.

South Africa-based Zimbabwean designer Thembani Mubochwa of TZM Fashion House returned home for the fashion showcase and presented great outfits at the show.

Radio and television personality Hazvinei “DJ Chilli” Sakarombe was TZM Fashion House ambassador this year and she also graced the runway.

Speaking about the showcase, Mubochwa said he was humbled to return to ZFW after a successful participation last year.

“I am glad to return for the show. It has become my annual plan to be here to showcase my designs.

“Home is best and I was happy to see emerging designers doing well,” he said.
