The First Floor Gallery Harare’s exhibition dubbed “Harare No Limits” will open today at the gallery as part of the ongoing Harare International Festival of Arts.

The quiet rooms and white walls of galleries can sometimes seem to be bizarre places too far away from reality of Harare streets but First Floor Gallery seeks to bring art closer to the people and to connect them with contemporary art and artists.

Gallery public relations Director, Marcus Gora said the exhibition is meant to give artists an opportunity to market themselves to the world through Hifa.

“The gallery, known for its innovative programming, showcases an exhibition designed to allow Harare’s best emerging artists to celebrate their domain and literally bring the city into the gallery. “The exhibition sees Zimbabwe’s best emerging talents hijack the gallery to express life in Harare, which you will recognise immediately – the ghetto and CBD, the colour and the nature, the history and the present day,” he said.

Some of the finest artists namely Wycliffe Mundopa, Gresham Tapiwa Nyaude, Darlington Muyengwa,Thomas Muziyirwa, Kresia Mukwazhi, Option Nyahunzvi, Moffat Takadiwa, Anne Zanele Mutema, Terrence Musekiwa, Mavis Tauzeni and Franklin Dzingai will work collaboratively, under curatorial leadership of Moffat Takadiwa to re-invent the gallery space and make new works in a way they have never done before. Gora also said their main aim as the gallery is to make people relate with contemporary art.

“As the gallery we strive to relate with our audiences and connect them with contemporary art, he said.
