A MAN employed as a herd boy at a farm in Masvingo, allegedly sodomised his employer’s 7-year-old twin brothers, threatening the minors with death each time he abused them, a local court heard on Wednesday.

Kirias Chigadza, 21, from Village Magombedze under Chief Chikwanda in Gutu was remanded in custody to Thursday for continuation of trial.

He pleaded not guilty to indecent assault charges when he appeared before Masvingo magistrate Colet Ncube.

Prosecutor Sophia Busvumani told the court that Chigadza was employed as a herdboy and at Plot 67, Hawkdale Farm in Mashava, and slept in the same bedroom with the minors (names withheld).

The court heard that on dates unknown to the State but between January and February this year, Chigadza would, during the night, take turns to sodomise the minors.

He would warn them not to expose the abuse, threatening them with death.

However, on the 3rd of May, one of the minors, while playing with her sister at the family homestead, opened up about the vile attacks. The sister then alerted their mother.

The twin brother also confirmed the abuse when he was quizzed.

A police report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Chigadza, while the boys were taken to Masvingo Provincial Hospital for examination.

A medical report was produced in court as evidence.
