A zanu-pf delegation led by party Secretary for Administration Dr Ignatius Chombo is in China to exchange notes with the ruling Communist Party of China.

The 15-member delegation comprises the Secretary for Youth Affairs, Cde Pupurai Togarepi, Deputy Secretary for Women’s Affairs, Cde Eunice Sandi Moyo and Central Committee members from all the 10 administrative provinces of Zimbabwe.

“For the next 10 days, zanu-pf and the Communist Party of China will share ideas and experiences in party building, mass mobilisation, social economic development which will see the two sister parties enhance efficiency in the overall governance and management of their parties,” said Dr Chombo in a statement.

“The visit, especially after the 6th National People’s Congress, will expose party leaders on how China has managed to deal with corruption within the party and Government. The two parties agree that corruption is a scourge which, if left unchecked, destroys the fabric of a society.” The team expects to learn from the Communist Party of China on how the ruling party can take a leading role in economic development.

Explained Dr Chombo: “zanu-pf’s development thrust is anchored in the Zim-Asset blueprint which is based on sustainable development through industrialisation, value addition and beneficiation, using local human and natural resources.” zanu-pf enjoys g bilateral links with its Chinese counterpart dating back to the days of the liberation struggle.

Zimbabwe and China recently signed mega infrastrutural development deals, while last month President Mugabe met his Chinese opposite number, Mr Xi Jinping, on the sidelines of the Africa-Asia Summit in Singapore.
