HIGHLANDERS treasurer Jerry Sibanda has resigned from the club to take over as Southern Region Division One newcomers Bulawayo City Football Club chairman.

Sibanda, elected three years ago, works for the local authority as a housing officer.

The former club striker will be confirmed on Friday at a full council meeting.

Bosso boss Peter Dube said nothing had come their way so far but that if it happens, their constitution allows them to co-opt a replacement.

“There are constitutional provisions that take care of that. But we have not been officially aised of council’s decision,” he said.

The council team is coached by experienced gaffer Philani Ncube and has already received a $200,000 budget for the season.

Ncube won the Independence Trophy with Njube Sundowns in 2008 and was named the coach of the year before leading How Mine to the second round of the Caf Confederation Cup last season.

Highlanders start their 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League campaign with a date against last season’s runner’s up ZPC Kariba at Gwanzura Stadium in Harare.

In the corresponding fixture last season, the two teams drew 1-1 before ZPC thumped Bosso 3-1 at Hartsfield-a result that saw coach Kelvin Kaindu depart.

Bosso have played a number of friendlies against lower division sides, but their most important games came against Caps United and How Mine.

They lost 2-1 to Caps United in the Bob91 Super Cup play off before edging How Mine 1-0 last Sunday to reach the final of the ZNA Charities Shield where they will face off with bitter rivals Dynamos last in June during the mid-season break.
