A ZVISHAVANE commercial sex worker and her boyfriend face murder charges after they allegedly killed a client who had hired the woman for a one-night stand.

Melinda Muswizi, 29, and her boyfriend Farai Masingaidze appeared before Zvishavane magistrate Peter Madhibha Tuesday to defend themselves against allegations of murdering Siphethanyani Nkiwane.

Prosecutor Stanley Ncube told the court that on April 1 this year and at around 8pm, Muswizi, a well known commercial sex worker in the small mining town, had gone to a local night club where she was later hired for sex by the now deceased.

The pair, it is further alleged, agreed to go to Muswizi’s place of residency in the town’s Mandava residential area, where she was to entertain the client.

Upon arrival at her residence, the court heard, Muswizi received a phone call from Mushingaidze, her regular boyfriend, who informed her he was on his way to join her for the night.

Muswizi is then alleged to have asked her client to leave claiming that Mashingaidze is the one who takes care of her upkeep and would not want to find her entertaining another man.

The now deceased Nkiwane refused to leave before he could get the services for which he had already paid.

The court further heard that Muswizi continued to plead with Nkiwane to leave but this fell on deaf ears.

A drunk Nkiwane soon fell into a deep sleep until Mashingaidze found him in the room.

Mashingaidze, it is said, struck Nkiwane once on the head with a blunt object, leaving him unconscious. He immediately disappeared into the dark.

Left alone, the court heard, Muswizi dressed Nkiwane’s body, with the assistance of another lady of the night, one Nyasha Banda and dumped it just six meters from their doorstep.

Nkiwane’s body was first discovered abandoned on the side of the road by a motorist, Edmore Machaura who called an ambulance before reporting the matter to the police.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the pair.

A post-mortem report produced in court revealed that Nkiwane died from a head injury and a spinal fracture.

Except for Banda, who is still at appear in court, Muswizi and her boyfriend were remanded in custody for trial continuation.
