SECOND half substitute Newman Sianchali walked away with all the bragging rights as his solitary effort ensured that Hwange stopped Chicken Inn’s winning streak in a league match at the Colliery yesterday.

The 75th minute scrambled goal came after the two teams exchanged the misery of missing chances.

The first half saw Hwange pressing for a goal with youngster Innocent Mucheneka the main culprit.

Chicken Inn had striker Edmore Chirambadare also fluffing numerous chances.

The second half saw a determined performance by both sides, with goals missing to spice up the exciting encounter.

Just three minutes after his introduction, Sianchali’s header hit the post off a Farai Vimisayi corner with 71 minutes gone.

Sianchali then benefitted from a Gilbert Zulu flick to wrestle the ball from Chicken Inn defenders to score a decisive goal, sending the Colliery Stadium into a delirium.

Chicken Inn showed why they were log leaders as they fought hard, with Passmore Bernad hitting the post straight from a corner deep into injury time.

Hwange goalkeeper’s coach Chenjerai Dube praised his charges.

“We played well and it shows that we are beginning to get it right,” Dube said.

Chicken Inn gaffer Joey Antipas was equally full of praise for his charges.

“The boys did a good job, but Hwange got a chance after a lapse in concentration,” Antipas said.
