HIGHLANDERS coach Kelvin Kaindu fled Hartsfield Stadium on Sunday and took refuge in the team’s dressing rooms as thousands of Bosso fans threw missiles and demanded answers after the team’s embarrassing home loss to ZPC Kariba.

This was Bosso’s second loss in a row, after last week’s 1-0 humiliation by Harare City and the fifth overall for this season which saw them remain in fourth place with 39 points, seven behind bitter rivals and leaders Dynamos.

Anti-riot police were called in to displace the angry mob after the match as Kaindu remained holed up in the dressing rooms fearing for his safety, together with his assistants Mark Mathe, goalkeeper’s coach Peter Nkomo and team manager Willard Khumalo.

Pride Tafirenyika opened the scoring for ZPC after two minutes before Rahman Kutsanzira equalised in the 23rd minute.

But a quick fire brace from veteran striker Limited Chikafa early in the second half put paid to Bosso’s hopes of a comeback and that frustrated the fans even further.

Team chairman Peter Dube and team secretary Andrew Tapela also left the stadium in a huff and switched off their mobiles phones as the media frantically searched for them.

Kaindu, who is reported to be sitting on a $60,000 buyout for a two year contract that he signed at the start of the year and expiring on 30 December 2015, should he be fired, was said to be considering his position at the former champions. But should he resign, his package would be lower.

At the end of the match players from both sides huddled in the centre circle as missiles rained into the pitch and how Highlanders, as the hosts, would be left to pick up the $800 fine from the PSL.

Sources at Highlanders said on Sunday night: “The coach has to go, even if we have to increase our debts, he just has to go. We have heard enough.”
