TOP amateur golfer, Stuart Krog, was still leading the Zimbabwe Golf Association order of merit when the curtain came down on the season last week.

The Chapman zero-handicap golfer has already won a place in the team for next year’s Zone VI championships.

Krog, who has improved immensely this year, took part in 13 of the 24 events played this year but still managed to get the number one spot.

The 18-year-old former St George’s College student amassed 256 points after winning two events — the Platinum Classic and the Dugmore Trophy.

In second place was Tonderai Masunga of Wingate.

Masunga finished five points behind Krog on 251 after taking part in 16 events.

The golfer, who has represented the country in several tournaments, including the All-Africa Challenge, is also assured of a place in the Zone VI team.

Masunga won the Zimbabwe and Matabeleland Amateur Championships.

Thembelani Vundla finished the season in third place after winning three tournaments during the season.

Vundhla, who was tipped to dominate the amateur ranks after Clive Nguru and Christian Mbanga turned professional, did well this season.

Renco Mine-based golfer, Visitor Mapwanya, finished fourth.
