GWERU Sports Club top bowler Timothy Machisa says he is ready to play in the Zimbabwe Masters Bowls tournament and wants to make a big impact at Highlands Sports Club on Friday.

This will be Machisa’s second appearance at the tournament.

“The last time I took part in the same event my performance was bad. I won three and lost seven matches.

“I am expecting some stiff competition from Jono Evans and Denis Streak but I believe I will give it my best shot and probably finish among the top three,” said Machisa.

The three-day competition is expected to run from Friday to Sunday with the country’s top bowlers taking part. The Masters is one of the biggest tournaments for the local bowlers where players compete in the Singles discipline.

In the women’s section Kerry Craven, Jane Rigby,Jenny Schoultz, Mel James, Julie Barnes, Ally Dale and Heather Singleton are expected to battle for the grand prize.

Kerry is also one of the tournament’s organisers.

“We have been busy running around to make sure all is in place before this prestigious tournament and we are glad that the greens are good.

“It will be a very tough competition, everyone is hoping to win and I just hope that I will enjoy the game and do well,” said Craven.
