MDC 99 vice president, Gideon Magadzire, and another man have been arraigned before the Gweru courts on allegations of forging a class two driver’s licence.

Magadzire, who resides in the Mkoba 15 suburb, Gweru, and Cosmas Chiuswa of village Nyagari South, Chief Nhema, on Tuesday appeared before provincial magistrate, Pathekile Msipa, facing two charges of forgery and fraud.

The two, however, are denying the charges and are maintaining they never committed the offence.

The state’s case is that in the period extending to 22 October 2014 Magadzire and Chiuswa connived and with a common purpose forged a class two driver’s licence number 986485 bearing Chiuswa’s names and national identity number.

It is alleged the two obtained the fake licence at Vehicle Inspection Depot (VID) in Bulawayo.

The state further alleges that after the duo forged the licence Chiuswa went on to use it as a genuine driver’s licence. Acting on tip off, the police investigated and arrested him. Chiuswa then implicated Magadzire saying he had paid the latter $250 before he brought him the forged licence, the state alleges.
