A 58 year old Wedza woman and her 30 year old son have been jailed for four years each after being convicted of attempted murder at the Marondera courts.

Jane Pazvakavambwa and her son, Acim Mucheta of Kunonga village in Wedza appeared before magistrate Josephine Sande facing charges of seriously assaulting Robert Tesva Hororo after his cattle strayed into the two’s vegetable garden.

According to the State the two attacked Hororo accusing him of deliberately letting his cattle into their garden. During the attack, they used an assortment of weapons leading to Hororo sustaining deep cuts all over the body.

Sentencing the two, the magistrate condemned the increase in the use of violence in the country. The magistrate said by using iron bars in attacking Hororo, the accused were no longer disciplining the complainant but wanted to inflict permanent injuries on him.

A medical report was produced in court to prove the level of the injuries sustained by Hororo.

Mother and son were sentenced to four years in prison with one year being set aside.
