MIGHTY Warriors coach Rosemary Mugadza has expressed satisfaction with the progress the team is making in their preparations ahead of their tie against Ghana in the final round of the All-Africa Games qualifiers this month. Zimbabwe will take on Ghana on March 21 at Accra Sports Stadium and the return leg is scheduled for the weekend of April 10-12.

The Mighty Warriors had a bye in the first round played last month, however, they have a mammoth task when they face Ghana, who are ranked among the gest women’s teams in Africa.

The two teams have met before with Zimbabwe losing 1-2 in an All-Africa Games match in Mozambique in 2011. And Ghana are going into this match as favourites. The Mighty Warriors last played a competitive match last year in September against South Africa and Mugadza admitted that it’s going to be a tough match and they need to work hard during this camp to ensure the team is in good shape. The team has only 10 days to prepare for this important assignment that will determine if they will make it for this year’s All-Africa Games in Brazzaville, Congo. “It’s not going to be an easy game but as long as the girls apply themselves well we will have a chance. If you look at the match in 2011 we lost on the last minute and it was because of attitude. But with the right attitude the girls are showing since we started training and if they continue with that same attitude they know that if we lose this match it will take some time for us to get international competition. So they have to get it right.
