IT’S official! President Mugabe has fired his vice Joice Mujuru and eight cabinet ministers in the much awaited shake-up following the Zanu PF congress which ended Sunday in Harare.

NewZimbabwe.com understands that some of the ministers including Mujuru received their dismissal letters last night while others were sacked Tuesday.

According to an official list the fired are energy minister Dzikamai Mavhaire and his deputy Munacho Mutezo, Didymus Mutasa (presidential affairs), Nicholas Goche (labour), Francis Nhema (indigenisation), Webster Shamu (Technology), Olivier Muchena (Education), Simbaneuta Mudarikwa (state for Mashonaland East).

Mavhaire and Mutezo confirmed their fate to the state media. The two have been accused of coercing Zesa Holdings to deposit money in the ruling party’s account in Manicaland. Allegations are that the money was then used to fund activities aimed at Mugabe’s ouster.

However, the reshuffle was widely expected following the purging of Mujuru and her allies from key party positions. Mugabe has acussed Mujuru and her PF allies of plotting to assassinate him, an allegation which Mujuru gly refuted in a statement issued Monday night.
