ONE of Zimbabwe’s top squash coaches Mashumba Mukumba has been invited to attend the 2014 World Squash Federation’s Development and Coaching Conference in Poland next month.

The World Squash Federation recently appointed the Polish city of Krakow to host their Development and Coaching Conference from June 25 to 28 and will feature presentations from world class coaches and players.

Incorporating a progression theme, the title for the biennial four-day international gathering is “From Talent to Excellence”.

The Conference is being held in conjunction with the Polish League Finals, an international all-glass court event held in a square of the historic city.

And with funds permitting, Zimbabwe’s Mukumba will join a host of the world’s other top squash coaches at this indaba in Krakow next month.

“I’m supposed to go to Poland next month to attend the WSF’s Development and Coaching Conference but I’m still struggling to raise the funds for this trip as I’ve to pay for my airfares and accommodation. In fact, I first need to raise 665 euros for the registration fees and the deadline is this Friday. I also have to look for US$1 400 for the airfares. So, I need to raise about US$2 300 to cover all these expenses and I’m appealing to any well-wisher to come to my rescue.

“This conference in Poland will help me to sharpen my coaching and administration skills in squash and it will be a sad development if I fail to attend it,” Mukumba said yesterday.

Mukumba is heavily involved in squash’s junior development programmes in Zimbabwe and he currently runs an academy at Belgravia Sports Club in Harare.
