A MUTARE man is suspected to have gone berserk and killed his wife before burning the body and property to ashes after a domestic dispute last Thursday.

Manicaland police spokesperson, Inspector Enock Chishiri, confirmed the incident. He said the suspect, Lamack Manyange (35), and his wife Tendai Mafaranyure (33) reportedly had a long standing dispute.

It is reported that on December 8, around 6 pm, Manyange left home for work.

The following day early in the morning a minor related to Mafaranyure visited the Manyange home only to find the doors wide open. The boy noticed that there was smoke inside the house.

He decided to investigate and went further into Mafaranyure’s bedroom and discovered that there was no one inside.

The minor then rushed and informed another relative about the incident.

The relative went into the house and found Mafaranyure’s charred body lying in another room with all the property reduced to ashes.

A note which was left by Manyange was discovered in another room stating that he had killed his wife intentionally and wanted to take his own life.

Chishiri said investigations were in progress and Manyange will appear in court soon and is likely to face murder charges.

“People should seek counselling rather than commit crime,” said Chishiri.
