President Comrade Robert Mugabe Sunday disclosed that he had a fruitful discussion with the Malawian leader, Professor Peter Mutharika especially on how they can develop the two countries.

Mugabe said this on Sunday at Kamuzu International Airport (KIA) in Lilongwe when he was leaving the country for Zimbabwe after attending the country’s 50 years independence celebrations.

He said “though it is secret but we discussed on how we can develop our countries infrastructure wise as well as the agriculture system.”

The Zimbabwe leader said when Malawi was taking her independence, the first President, Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda challenged him that the country would be leading in agriculture which he said was true and hoped that it would still remain the same with the current president.

Mugabe appealed to Malawians to take good care of the existing infrastructures.

He then commended the country’s leadership for the effort of ensuring that illiteracy is addressed.

“I was there when Malawi got its independence and I have seen the developments and changes the country has been in. People today have freedom and sovereign rights and they are also able to do things freely,” said Mugabe.

He also said he had good relationships with all the four Presidents that ruled the country since independence and he was optimistic that the same would continue with the current president.

Mugabe was in the country to celebrate with Malawians of 50 years of independence. The country took its independence on July 6 1964.
