WHAT would have easily passed for an April Fools Day prank yesterday turned into reality as Njabulo Ncube, who quit Highlanders two months ago in pursuit of greener pastures, turned up at the club’s training session at White City yesterday. The move appears to have caught Highlanders by surprise and the striker was in action for his new paymasters FC Platinum at the weekend.

Sources said the stocky striker first came for the club’s morning training session but was told he would only train after meeting the Highlanders executive.

The Chronicle news crew was barred from having a closer view of the player’s first training session. Majahawodwa Ndlovu, the club’s fitness trainer, ordered the news crew out of White City.

“You should have first called our superiors. They will not be happy with your presence here,” said Ndlovu.

Prior to entering White City, Ncube said “No comment my brother. Talk to the Highlanders executive members.”

A number of Highlanders players who spoke on condition of anonymity said Tshiki had openly told them about his wish to return to the Bulawayo giants.

FC Platinum media liaison officer Chido Chizondo said they are aware that Ncube was in Bulawayo attending to some family matters.

“We are aware that Njabulo is in Bulawayo where he is attending to some family matters,” said Chizondo.

Ncube signed a one-year deal worth US$12 000 but was being disillusioned that the salaries are not being paid on time.

Bosso chairman Peter Dube said his club respected the rules and regulations governing the game.

“If he trained it was unfortunate, the coaches may not have known. We cleared him to FC Platinum and we know what has to be done if we want him back, we would have to deal with the issue the proper way, moreover, the window has closed,” said Dube.
