POLICE in Chipinge have interviewed deputy ICT, Postal and Courier Services minister Dr Winmore Mlambo over the weekend demonstration against Buhera South MP, Joseph Chinotimba.

Scores of ZANU (PF) supporters and war veterans at the weekend staged a demonstration against Chinotimba who was recently allocated Chihoza farm in that area.

Dr Mlambo, who is the MP for Chipinge East, is being accused by Chinotimba sympathizers of tribalising the land issue.

He has refuted the allegations.

Sources told NewZimbabwe.com that Dr Mlambo was on Monday given a g warning by the police.

“The police were concerned with the issue of demonstrations and had to summon the MP to a meeting, where they warned him against the action. He was told to desist from inciting people to demonstrate because demos are a source of violence,” a source said.

Dr Mlambo confirmed meeting with the police but denied being summoned.

“We had a fruitful meeting with the officer commanding Chipinge district and the District Administrator,” he said.

“As I told you at the weekend, there was a communication breakdown between the organizers of the demonstration and the community. However the other planned demonstration has since been suspended and postponed.”
