THE 2015 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season will start on March 21, the league’s assembly has announced.

The decision was reached at the end of the PSL Annual General Meeting held in Harare on Saturday and attended by the 16 leaders of the clubs, who form the PSL Board of Governors. Also in attendance was PSL chairman Twine Phiri, chief executive Kenny Ndebele and league’s legal aisor.

The league was initially set to start on March 7, but was moved to accommodate the Bob91 Super Cup and FC Platinum’s participation in the Caf Confederation Cup.

FC Platinum are also travelling to Tanzania this Friday for a date with Young Africans.

“AS PSL and clubs, we have agreed that the season kicks off on March 21,” said Ndebele.

“There will be a congested fixture during the Easter holiday as football is meant to entertain our fans who will be on holiday.

“I can confirm that we are going to have the league running and on top of that, we have the Chibuku Super Cup which was re-launched by Delta Beverages last year as well as a NetOne football tournament that will also be staged along the way.”

The league’s AGM also resolved that Phiri should look into the issue of teams that are supposed to be relegated each year with Zifa.

“We have agreed that two teams should be relegated while two also get promoted. The chairman will look into that, liaising with the leadership from the four regions.”

The gathering also agreed on meeting the Footballers Union of Zimbabwe over disputes that have seen players dragging clubs to courts.

“We need to have a common ground with FUZ. We need to help each other come up with a standard player contract for future use,” Ndebele added.

It was also confirmed at the meeting that the league has finally acquired the Eastlea offices they were renting for the past decade.
