Preparations for the 2014 edition of the Harare Agricultural Show have reached an aanced stage. The show runs from August 22-30

Zimbabwe Agricultural Society public relations officer Ms Heather Madombwe on Tuesday said they were expecting hundreds of local and foreign companies to take part at the agricultural showcase.

“The venue for the showcase has 780 stands that include commercial, industrial and agricultural exhibitions,” she said. “To date, over 300 exhibitors have registered for the agricultural show.

This year’s edition will be held under the theme: “Sustaining and Transforming Agricultural Growth”.

Ms Madombwe said entry fees remained unchanged.

“Our fees have not changed since dollarisation. The charges are affordable for the public as children below the age of 12 will pay US$1 and adults US$5 per head,” she said.

“We have lined up cultural performances to commemorate the life of the former president of the Agricultural Show Society Mr Hosiah Mapondera who passed on early this year.

“Children below the age of 18 wearing school uniform will enter for free for the cultural performances.”

Ms Madombwe urged people to visit the agricultural show in their numbers.

The opening will showcase live performances from the Zimbabwe National Dancers, drum majorettes and musicians.

There will also be a US$1 raffle draw for a GW Steed truck and two days of fireworks.

ZAS is working with various stakeholders including Harare City Council and the police to ensure a smooth show.
