FC Platinum founding president Nathan Shoko has hailed the team for its return to the CAF inter-club competitions after winning the Chibuku Super Cup in the just-ended season.

The Zvishavane side will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup and will be the only Zimbabwean side on the African club football safari next year.

Dynamos pulled out of the Champions League with the Glamour Boys saying they did not have the funds to underwrite such an aenture.

Shoko led FC Platinum into the Champions League two years ago after the team finished second in the championship race to Dynamos.

“I am happy that the team has qualified to play in the Confederation Cup next year. We represented Africa in our maiden year and I am excited with what they have achieved,” Shoko said at Manyarira Primary School where he was guest of honour.

“I had always wanted to see him (Norman Mapeza) coach Platinum one day.

“I am happy that the current executive managed to get him and he is putting back Zvishavane on the map.

“I am happy with the Under-19 project that we introduced and I am happy that a total of eleven players have made it into the senior team.”

Raphael Muduviwa, Obey Hunduza, Edmore Tsoro, Desire Bhila, Tatenda Dzumbunu, Emmaculate Mawuna, Livingstone Gent, Talboot Shumba and Blessing Sahondo are some of the players who have made it into the senior team.

Shoko was the central figure in the renovation of Mandava Stadium into one of the best stadiums in the country.

He feels a number of students from Zvishavane District should make it into the FC Platinum team and even going to play football in foreign countries. He donated a football kit to Manyarira Primary School.
