A local short film organisation, Invision Studio, is working on a short film festival which will see a number of international filmmakers taking part early next year. The revelations were made by one of the founders of the organisation Charles Mugaviri at the Book Cafeacute over the weekend when more than 10 short films by 16 different filmmakers premiegravered. In an interview with The Herald Entertainment, Mugaviri said they had managed to premiegravere at least 61 short films at Book Cafe since January.

“We came up with this idea with the intention of increasing film production in the country.

“We also want to encourage and give a platform to a number of local filmmakers to showcase their talent.

“Since we have managed to come up with 61 short films this year, we feel it’s high time that we have a short film festival.

“We have already started preparations and so far filmmakers from Italy, United Kingdom and South Africa have confirmed their participation.

“We are expecting a total of nine countries and the festival will run under the name ‘In short film festival’,” he said.

Meanwhile, a number of filmmakers and film fans who thronged the Book Cafe commented the Invision team for a job well done.

“I have been coming here since they started premiegravering their short films and from what I have seen today, these guys are doing a great job.

There are great improvements from the concepts and the picture quality of their films taking into consideration that these guys do not have adequate resources but they are pushing on.

“I like their determination it shows they are going somewhere.

They must keep up the good work and we are looking forward for the festival,” said Tatenda Matibenga who has been following the programme.
