Mutare-based gospel musician Blessing Shumba will grace the album launch of his former producer and keyboardist Laiton Ngolomi on Saturday at the Aquatic Complex in Chitungwiza.

The two parted ways in 2013 when Ngolomi joined Mathias Mhere who was largely seen as Shumba’s rival.

Shumba initially kept Ngolomi as his producer before dumping him for a South African producer. The move signaled tension between Shumba and Ngolomi.

In an apparent move to show there is no bad blood between them, Shumba has agreed to grace Ngolomi’s album launch.

Ngolomi’s new eight-track album is called “Extreme Afric Gospel Choir Volume One” a title derived from the name of his group, Extreme Afric Gospel Choir.

“All is set for the show and I think this is the time that people should know that there is no bad blood between me and Shumba,” said Ngolomi.

He added that he is ready to continue working with Mhere and Shumba on any project despite forming his group.

“I am a producer and I will keep working with these artists despite having my own group,” he said.

Shumba said he was going to attend the show because he had nothing personal against the producer.

“There was a lot of noise when we parted ways and people had many theories about our relationship. We are artists and we will continue to work together even if we have gone separate ways. We can even do some songs together.”

Other artists that will perform on the day include Leonard Zhakata, Bethen Pasinawako, CCAP Voices of Mabre, Vabati VaJehovah and Mhere.

Pasinawako said she was dishing new songs to her fans on the day.

“I have been preparing new songs for my album and all is now in place so we will be giving our fans new staff,” said Pasinawako.
