SWEDEN’S top handball coach Henrik Signell, who is set to arrive in Harare today to conduct two international coaching courses for Zimbabwean coaches in the next week, added another feather to his hat in his colourful coaching career when he led his women’s side IK Savehof to their sixth straight Swedish championship at the weekend.

According to reports from Sweden, it turned into a fantastic weekend for IK Saumlvehof.

On Saturday, the women of the Swedish club won their sixth Swedish championship in succession and qualified for the Women’s European Handball Federation Champions League group phase through a 38-20 win against Skuru IK in the final.

The men’s team followed with more success on Sunday, as they took their first European title by winning the one-legged Challenge Cup final against RK Metaloplastika by 11 goals.

While RK Metaloplastika had won the European Champions Cup in 1985 and 1986, IK Saumlvehof had not won a European title in the history of the club before the final.
