Tobacco sales at Boka Tobacco Auction Floors have resumed after they had been temporarily suspended today following demonstrations by farmers over low prices.

Farmers slammed the $3, 50 per kilogramme purchase price for the first bale compared to last year’s $4,85.

Officials from Tobacco Industry Marketing Board addressed the farmers and have come to an agreement with buyers improving their prices.

Sales at Boka Tobacco Auction Floors officially mark the opening of the tobacco selling season.
