THREE Chitungwiza men appeared in court yesterday charged with stealing 600 kilogrammes of chickens worth $1 980 from Paguta Trading (Pvt) Ltd. Simbarashe Nyikadzino (27), Darlington Mashaire (33) and Jonathan Maforo (33) appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Milton Serima facing fraud charges after they allegedly pretended to Paguta Trading that they were officials from Howard Mission Hospital and processed fake RTGs which they used to get 600kg of chickens from the company.

Paguta Trading specialises in poultry and horticulture. This was after the company had aertised in a local newspaper on December 21 that it was selling chickens. The trio phoned Paguta Trading and asked for the company’s banking details.

They processed the fake RTGs documents and a letter bearing a Howard Mission Hospital logo and collected the chickens from Paguta Trading.

When a company director Mr Blessing Dirani verified with the bank if any transfer had been made, he discovered that nothing had been deposited into the company’s account.

He reported the matter to the police leading to the trio’s arrest.
