A THIRD year University of Zimbabwe economics student has become the latest suspect to be arrested in the Baba Jukwa saga over an email he sent to the phantom Facebook character.

Romeo Tanyaradzwa Musemburi, 20, appeared before a Harare magistrate Wednesday charged with attempting to subvert a constitutionally elected government or alternatively attempting to commit an act of insurgency, banditry, sabotage or terrorism.

What has landed the student in trouble is an email sent through his Gmail account romeomusemburi@gmail.com to Baba Jukwa in which he allegedly solicited for guns to start a war “fighting for democracy”.

He was remanded in custody to July 16.

Magistrate Vakayi Chikwekwe aised him to approach the High Court for bail.

Prosecutor Michael Reza said Musemburi, who resides in Harare’s Waterfalls area, wrote an e-mail to Baba Jukwa on August 3 last year.

Also in custody and facing similar charges are Sunday Mail editor Edmund Kudzayi and his brother Philip. Police have also released a list of ten individuals wanted over the Baba Jukwa saga.
