Singer of the popular yesteryear song “Vachibhanzi Vauya” Sifelilizwe Shumba has bounced back after about 12 years in hibernation. Shumba hogged the limelight in 2003 with his song “Vachibhanzi Vauya” before he went into hibernation.Yesterday the musician announced his return with an album titled “Chifinhu”.

He said he had left music pursuing other business in South Africa.

“That time when I released that song I was not much into music but I did it for fun. I left the country for other exploits,” he said.

When he returned home about two years ago he became manager for another sungura musician Gift Amuli.

“He is a friend so I was just assisting him not that I was employed as his manager,” he said.

He said though he has no live band for now, he is in the process of establishing it.

“For the past years I have not been thinking about venturing into music but now things are taking shape and the industry is growing” he said.

For him sungura remains a g genre in the country.

“There are several genres that are coming but sungura remain the best in the country. It has been there for years and we have several musicians still going g in the genre,” he said.

He said he is happy with the response he is getting from the people since the release of the five-track album.
