The third edition of the Jameson Vic Falls Carnival is in progress and scores of festival goers from the region and the world have converged at the country’s tourism town, Victoria Falls, for the event that started on Monday and ends tonight.

Headlining the entertainment at the carnival is legendary musician, Oliver Mtukudzi, Winky D and South African-based Goldfish Live and Beatenberg.

The organisers have expressed excitement over hosting the carnival at the seventh wonder of the world and national heritage park that presents a perfect and unique backdrop for the New Year’s party.

“The line up at the carnival will also see Zimbabwe’s electronic music poster boy and Hidden Culture founder, Jason Le Roux keeping the crowds on their feet until the early hours,” they said on social media.

A number of regional and international deejays have been billed to perform, bringing an exhilarating cultural blend to the festival.

Despite this, Zim dancehall music is likely to get a fair share in the rotation as Judgment Yard are also part of the entertainers.

“Combine Southern Africa’s biggest artistes, the world’s greatest aentures and activities, with a New Year’s countdown like nowhere else on earth and you have arrived at Vic Falls Carnival,” they said.

The programme opened with a train party that was set on a colonial train on Monday. It took attendees to a secret bush party, deep in the nature reserve.

Yesterday saw the famous colour festival coming alive with after-parties in four of Vic Fall’s most popular party venues.

Tonight is the big night at the New Year’s festival that will be held at Victoria Falls Primary School fields.

A New Year welcome party is set to rock until the early hours of December 1.

The event is being sponsored by DStv and Jameson Irish Whiskey among others.
