A BRUISING legal battle has ensured between Zanu PF MP for Gokwe-Nembudziya, Justin Mayor Wadyajena and his ex-business partner, Kudakwashe Tangwirei, over the termination of a working contract.

In court papers filed at the High Court, Wadyajena wants Tangwirei representing Sakunda Energy, to pay him $18 million dollars for terminating the contract to distribute fuel on behalf of the petroleum company.

Wadyajena claims that his company, Mayor Logistics, which had the contract to distribute Sakunda fuel, had been terminated because he is a “weevil” while Tangwirei is a “gamatox”.

The papers allege that Mayor Logistics, since 2012, was the exclusive distributor of Sakunda fuel until last year in the run-up to the Zanu PF congress- and he wants to be paid $18 million for loss of business.

“The dependent (Mayor Logistics) had been given the exclusive right to distribute Sakunda fuel country wide and was to be given all distribution networks for all Sakunda clients. But the plaintiff (Sakunda) has illegally terminated the contract,” the court application reads.

In Zanu PF gamatox is a word used to refer to people aligned to ousted vice president, Joice Mujuru while weevils are those who support the current VP Emerson Mnangagwa.

In his response, Sakunda alleges that Wadyajena fraudulently acquired the contract to distribute their fuel saying the people who signed the contract had no mandate to do so.

“The purported agreement is disputed as people who allegedly acted on behalf of Sakunda were neither tasked to do so nor were they employed by the same,” Tangwirei said in his papers.

But Wdyajena is adamant, saying the people who signed the contract had the mandate from Sakunda to do so and that is why it had been recognised since 2012 until 2014 when Zanu PF political fights turned nasty.
